In a feat of endurance rarely seen outside marathon events or year 9 oral presentations, Australian woman Jasmin Hartley, 48, has reportedly managed to talk—nonstop—through an entire festival set, pausing only to sip her seltzer and laugh at her own stories.
The performance in question? None other than Bonobo’s emotionally rich, atmospheric sunset set on the Orange Stage—designed to transport the listener into a meditative sonic journey through textured downtempo electronica. For most, it was a chance to lose themselves in deep rhythms and ambient bliss. For Jasmin, it was “just the background noise to this wild story about a guy from Bumble who had a nose ring and a podcast.”
Witnesses say the talking began as the first beat dropped and never once dipped below conversation-level volume. “It was honestly impressive,” said festivalgoer Lars Jensen, who stood behind her for the full 90-minute set. “She seamlessly transitioned from her housemate drama, to the importance of gut health, to her new Pilates instructor. It was like an audio installation of chaos. I haven’t heard a single snare drum.”
One punter who tried to politely say, “Hey, I’m just trying to enjoy the music,” was met with a friendly but firm, “Omg SAME babe, I just vibe better when I talk through it.”
At one point, Jasmin even FaceTimed a friend to show them the “vibes,” holding her phone high and narrating the festival like a war correspondent in active duty.
Festival officials have since issued a statement:
“While we encourage free expression and community, we do ask that during sets, especially those known for intricate musical nuance, attendees consider the radical concept of shutting the hell up.”
Music lovers took to social media under the hashtag #SilentRespect, sharing memes, frustration, and in some cases, short clips of the woman’s commentary—often louder than the artist himself. One particularly viral clip captured her saying, “Is this even a band or just a Spotify algorithm on stage?” moments before Bonobo launched into a live drum and bass jam with a 12-piece ensemble.
When approached for comment, Jasmin was unfazed.
“I’m just super passionate about music,” she said. “It’s such a vibe. Like, I could talk about it all day.”
And apparently, she will.
